Bloody MSG

Friday, August 20, 2004

Yesterday Mindy and I went to Wal-Mart to pick up a blank tape to transfers some of my camcorder movies over. We then ended up wondering around the mall for a bit. Went through a few shops and picked up one of my favourite foods -SUSHI! The clerk at the counter put some soy sauce into the bag as well. I love the stuff(sushi). It was over a year since I had it last. When I was working ky co-workers would go out for lunch at this little place in MetroTown mall. Can't remember the name for the life of me. Anyways the all-you-can-eat lunch special was second to none.

When we got came home I had to dig in right away of course. I have no self control and couldn't wait an hour for dinner. So I opened the little packets of soy sauce into a small bowl and began dipping my irresistable food. Within minutes I had the worst cluster attack in 2 years. Holy crap the pain was unbearable. Maybe Mr. Bob Kipple should add an 11 to his scale. The demon stabbed my eye so badly that Mindy noticed how swollen it was when I woke up. Usually no one notices but me. Plus my eye was very bloodshot too.

Later, after I could see again, I check the ingrediants for possible causes. I never found anything listed on the sushi package or the soy sauce that even remotely triggered a cluster in the past. Puzzled I went back to my head diary(very handy to have) and saw that MSG caused them everytime. Kind of like alcohol or smoking for me. I think it was the soy sauce. Not a 100% sure yet. I hope it wasn't in the sushi. Some of the best I've had.

Thankfully, its over and I can go back to playing with my code. Maybe I'll get it done someday.

Paul

-Our resistance and fear, our dread of the unpleasant, magnify pain. It is like closing your hand around a burning ember. The tighter you squeeze, the deeper you are seared.

Medical terminology can cause confusion at the best of times. If there is a word you do not understand all you have to do is double-click on it and the definition will appear! Don't forget to drop me a line by email at versilleus@gmail.com with your comments, questions‚ recommended resources‚ concerns‚ & especially your experiences with clusters. Or come find me on my Facebook Profile to add me as a Friend. Whether you are a supporter‚ care-giver or sufferer. I would love to hear from you!

*Please do not use this information for self diagnoses. Writing about my experiences with chronic cluster headaches & epilepsy is a good outlet for me. Consult your Dr. with any kind of headache or chronic pain you may have. The 3rd party links on my site I have found to be a good resource to me over the past few years & dearly hope they will benefit you as well.*
